The big takeaways from the interview above with Heather Chumbler-Rich Senior Account Executive of 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty…
In the months of February and March, you can get a pre-season tune-up on your HVAC. If you have a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty in place when the pre-season tune-up is done the home warranty will cover any issues under your home warranty policy.
Tyler: Hello, everyone. This is Tyler Ford with EXP Realty here in Tucson, Arizona. And Heather and I, we’re doing one of these a month for 2020 and Heather is the Account Rep for 210 Home Warranty. And today we’re going to be talking about HVAC service, and you can get this done in February and March. And you’ll go out and do an inspection just to keep people on top of deferred maintenance on HVAC, correct?
Heather: Correct.
Tyler: Provided that they have a current plan in place?
Heather: If they have, yeah. So the full details about this is with 210 Home Buyers Warranty, we have a buyer option available for buyers to purchase. They can purchase this option at closing or within 30 days of closing. And what we’re talking about specifically today is called Pre-season HVAC Tune-up. And it’s a tune-up visit two different times out of the year. But the key is, it’s a real opportune time during the month. So, for example, the month tune-up time right now is in February, that just passed. In March, we still have until the end of March, that if any of the buyers who are our homeowners elected this Pre-season HVAC Tune-up, then we are right now at the time where they want to place a service request. A service provider will come out to the home and they will tune up that HVAC system and get it ready for the summertime.
Heather: So it’s $50 in our home service agreement, currently, right now to get this option. There still is a driving fee to get the service provider to the home. And so the service fee is paid and then they tune up the system, get it ready for the summer. The great thing about this though is that if they do find something wrong with the system at the time that they’re there at the home, then they will put it right back through the warranty. Another service fee is not due for that. So no matter what, it’s great to have some kind of a maintenance program on your HVAC systems. Also changing out filters on a regular basis.
Heather: But with 210 it’s great, because it gives one extra step forward to be able to give some coverage if it’s not functioning to its best of the capacity. So on our home service agreement, this is the front of it, but on the very back there is some options where it says buyer options. And that’s where we talk about the pre-season HVAC tune-up. So I know that we would have a whole lot less air conditioning breakdowns in the summertime if people were maintaining their HVAC system proper.
Tyler: Cool. So couple of questions for you. If somebody has a 210 in place and they want to get this done, who do they call? They can call 210 directly and get it scheduled?
Heather: Well first of all, we want to make sure they have that buyer option, and so they can add that within 30 days of their effective date. But then let’s say that they have the option, all they would do is just call the request service line, which is 1-800-775-4736. And just say that they want to conduct the pre-season HVAC tune up and then we will dispatch out a service provider to the home to tune up their HVAC system.
Tyler: Cool. And also the other question, does this include somebody that has a swamp cooler?
Heather: It is actually for HVAC so the evaporative coolers is different. That’s a different type of maintenance. So this is the HVAC system, with the duct work, ventilation. So EVAP would be different.
Tyler: And will they change out air filters as a part of this?
Heather: No.
Tyler: No. Okay.
Heather: That’s great question. And it comes up all the time. That’s homeowner’s responsibility to just do a monthly change out of filters. But they will make sure that everything else is tuned up and ready to go for the summertime. Or for the winter, depending on where we are in the tuneup period.
Tyler: Gotcha. Okay. Well this one’s short and sweet. We’re middle of March and so we’ve got a couple months remaining. But every February and March, this applies.
Heather: February and March. And then later in the year is October and November, when we tune it up and get it ready for the winter time.
Tyler: Gotcha, gotcha. Well, cool I learned something. I did not know that. So good to know. And we actually have it on our house, so I might call and get it scheduled.
Heather: Oh good.
Tyler: So there’s a service called to come out, but if they catch anything, then it’s provided by the home warranty?
Heather: Yes, correct.
Tyler: Gotcha, gotcha.
Heather: It’s great. It’s a great bonus.
Tyler: Cool. Well thanks Heather. Thanks for that information.
Heather: Thank you. I appreciate you very much and thank you to everybody who’s just considering 210.
Tyler: Not a problem. Thank you.
Heather: Thank you.
