Check Out The Video Below of Cyclist T-Boning a Deer While Descending Down Mt Lemmon
Being an avid cyclist and riding up and down Mt Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona so many times for the last 30 years I am so thankful I have never crashed into a deer.
When descending down Mt Lemmon on a bike cyclists are going well over 30 mph and will sometime hit over 40 mph. Crashing into a deer at speeds of 30 mph + would certainly leave a mark.
I actually have a friend, Russ Hall, who this happen to about 15 years ago. It was not caught on video but a very similar in terms of broken bike and a banged up Russ. Luckily Russ lived to ride another day as did Reed Soehnel in the video below.
Check out the video footage and the aftermath of the bike of Reed Soehnel t-boning a deer while descending down Mt Lemmon on his bike.
At the end of it all, Soehnel broke the cuboid in his left foot and also sustained road rash, bruises and some cuts on his hands. And although his helmet was damaged, he didn’t have a concussion. Amazingly, he was able to drive himself back to Santa Fe the very next day.
Soehnel is expected to fully recover in 3 to 6 weeks. Plus, he’ll be able to get on an indoor bike trainer in just a few days — something he calls miraculous.
