SaddleBrooke golf: 63 holes, two very different systems
HOA One runs a private club for its members; HOA Two runs two semi-private courses anyone can book. Here is how each works, what it costs this season, and who can play where.
How golf works on each side
SaddleBrooke Country Club
HOA One · 27 holes · private
- Membership only. You play as a SaddleBrooke resident or a resident’s guest; the courses aren’t open to the public.
- Annual membership auto-renews each November 1 unless you opt out in writing before November 15. Pay up front or in 12 monthly payments.
- Over 90% of members renew each year. No initiation fee appears on the 2026 sheet.
- Renting? A Renters Play Pass is $580 a month, or renters pay the daily rate.
- Staff: Mike Roddy, Director of Golf & Grounds · Jane Chanik, Head Golf Professional, (520) 917-3750.
MountainView and The Preserve
HOA Two · 36 holes · semi-private, managed by Troon
- Open to the public with daily tee times, plus resident passes and resident rates.
- 2027 resident annual pass $5,000, up from $4,400 in 2026, or $4,600 plus a $4 water fee per round.
- New for 2027: every resident round adds the $4 water usage fee.
- Book through golfsaddlebrooke.com; golf shops (520) 818-1100 and (520) 825-9022.
- Staff: Mike Karpe, PGA Director of Golf · Wayne Clark, PGA Head Professional, based mostly at The Preserve · Mason Hage.
Three courses, 63 holes
The SaddleBrooke, Tucson and Catalina nines
- SaddleBrooke nine (1987): the original; the signature #2 asks for a 125-yard carry over the lake.
- Tucson nine (1988): the club calls it the most challenging.
- Catalina nine (1994): par 35 with three par 3s.
- Played as 18 by pairing two nines; driving range on site. Regrassed 2015–2018.
MountainView
- Gary Panks design, 1997. Par 72.
- 6,738 yards from the black tees, rated 71.2 / slope 134; the forward tees play 4,454.
- $6 million renovation finished July 2024; the clubhouse was refreshed in 2026.
The Preserve
- Opened 2004. Par 72, the longest of the three.
- 6,926 yards from the black tees, rated 72.3 / slope 137; the forward tees play 4,415.
- Fine dining at The Preserve clubhouse next door.
- Renovation targeted for 2031: architect talks began in 2026 on irrigation, greens, bunkers, tees, practice areas, drainage and turf reduction, with a dedicated fund already at $4.45 million. The HOA’s stated aim: renovate it, don’t replace it.
Every fall the courses close in rotation for overseeding. In 2026, MountainView was closed October 7–27 while The Preserve stayed open.

Reliable, not guaranteed. The fees, dates and rules on this page come from each club’s published fee sheets and the HOA newsletters, and Blaine updates them as they change. Before you budget or book, confirm the current sheet with the club: SaddleBrooke One at saddlebrooke.org, HOA Two at sbhoa2.org, or call the pro shop.
Living in One, golfing in Two (and the other way round)
- The Reciprocal Use Agreement covers golf, but loosely. Each HOA may, not must, let the other’s residents play, on terms it sets, and may sell them annual memberships in limited numbers.
- Every other amenity is free both ways under the agreement; golf is the exception that can carry its own fee.
- The agreement runs to September 10, 2029. HOA Two has said it won’t renew it as written.
- HOA One’s courses: SaddleBrooke residents and their guests. In June 2026 HOA One’s board pledged that its golf and restaurants stay open to HOA Two residents whatever happens to the agreement.
- HOA Two’s courses: open to everyone. HOA Two’s 2027 flyers sell “resident” passes and rates without defining resident, so HOA One owners should confirm their rate with the pro shop, (520) 818-1100.
- RUA updates as talks go: the HOA guide’s RUA timeline.
Buying on the course
- HOA One’s original golf parcels are deed-restricted to golf use on a rolling 10-year term that renews every year, so the fairway behind you can’t simply be redeveloped.
- Errant balls and overspray come with the view. HOA One’s CC&Rs treat them as an accepted risk of a golf-course lot.
- HOA One can cap resident-rate golfers at two per lot and limit amenities to two people per lot at a time.
- Walking the courses in HOA Two: only before 7 a.m. or after 6 p.m. (5 p.m. in winter).
